Safety and Wellness First

We are committed to providing a safe and driven environment where physical health is celebrated as a pillar of well-being. Whether during a standard P.E. session or a FIYA match, the goal is always to support the student’s holistic development. This balanced approach to physical education and limited athletics reflects our dedication to a smart, thoughtful investment in your child’s total education.

The NDA Knight

Our TK through 8th Grade coed program is represented by the Knight. The Knight is a timeless symbol of honor, chivalry, and service to the community. For our younger students, being a Knight means learning the fundamentals of teamwork and showing respect for every opponent. It represents the beginning of a student’s journey toward leadership and the development of a strong moral compass.

Physical Education & Wellness

At Notre Dame Academy, Physical Education is an essential part of the student experience from Transitional Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Our program develops motor skills, teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for movement while supporting the growth of the whole child.

Students in 3rd–4th Grade may also participate in D3 after-school sports, which provide additional opportunities to build teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit in a fun, inclusive environment.

A Foundation for Lifelong Health

Our Physical Education curriculum is inclusive and research-informed, meeting students at every stage of their developmental journey. In the early years, students discover the joy of movement while building fundamental skills, coordination, and confidence. As they grow, students develop spatial awareness, teamwork, discipline, and cooperation through active play and structured activities.

Utilizing NDA’s outdoor spaces, including dedicated courts and play areas, students build healthy habits and the confidence to take on new challenges both physically and academically.

Character Development Through Play

Physical education at NDA is about more than just fitness; it is a laboratory for character development. We teach our students how to lead with integrity, even in the simplest of games. Through structured physical activity, children learn the essentials of teamwork, patience, and mutual respect. These lessons in sportsmanship and social emotional awareness are critical building blocks that prepare our students to become the thoughtful, resilient leaders of the future.

Strategic Introduction to Team Sports

While our primary focus is comprehensive Physical Education, NDA provides opportunities for students ready to explore organized team play. Beginning in 3rd Grade, students may participate in select after-school team sports through introductory programs designed to build confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a supportive environment.

Fifth Grade students may have the opportunity to participate with Middle School teams through the D2 athletics program. Families interested in these opportunities can learn more through the Middle School Athletics section.
