The Regal Gryphon

As our students move into the all girls environment for Middle and High School, they take on the identity of the Regal Gryphon. The Gryphon, a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle, signifies strength, intelligence, and soaring ambition. This mascot honors the power of young women to command both the earth and the sky through their achievements.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

At Notre Dame Academy, middle school is a pivotal time for young women to build confidence and find their voice. Our all-girls athletic program is designed to create a powerful yet approachable environment where students can pursue excellence without hesitation. We believe that physical activity is a cornerstone of academic rigor, providing a strategic outlet for stress while fostering the grit and resilience necessary for the future.

Integrated Wellness and Expert Instruction

Physical education is a core part of our middle school curriculum, ensuring that every student prioritizes her health and well-being. These sessions are led by our Assistant Athletic Director, providing students with professional instruction and consistent mentorship within the daily schedule. This intentional focus on physical literacy helps young women develop a positive relationship with fitness that lasts a lifetime.

Competitive Opportunities and Team Synergy

We offer a robust selection of organized team sports specifically tailored for the middle school years. Our students compete in various disciplines, including:

  • Volleyball
  • Cross Country
  • Swimming (not a part of FIYA)
  • Track and Field
  • Basketball
  • Golf (unofficial sport)

Our program is uniquely structured to build community. Depending on the season and the sport, our athletes may compete on teams fielded exclusively by our all-girls middle school students or participate in blended teams that combine athletes from both our all-girls and coed middle school divisions. This collaborative approach expands our students' social networks and teaches them to lead with integrity across different team dynamics.

A Safe Space for High Performance

We understand that for the strategic Los Angeles parent, a school must provide a sense of safety that allows for genuine growth. Our athletic environment is socially and emotionally secure, giving young women the freedom to take risks, fail forward, and celebrate their successes. By focusing on intentional, research informed coaching, we ensure that our athletic program remains a smart investment in your daughter’s character and long term outcomes.

Building the Regal Legacy

Middle school athletics serve as the essential training ground for the high school Regals. Students begin to master the technical skills and competitive mindset that define our championship winning programs. Whether she is diving into the pool or leading on the volleyball court, every middle school athlete is an integral part of the NDA legacy, learning what it means to be a person of impact in an ever changing world.
