On Wednesday, February 26, as part of the Exploratory Approach speaker series, we had the privilege of hosting Spectrum News’ Alex Cohen, whose visit left a lasting impact on our students. 

During Community Time on Monday November 10, hosted by the Women in Business Club, NDA proudly welcomed back three outstanding alumnae: Esabella Rojas ’18, Jocelyn Xoletl ’20, and Hana Doss-Wassily ’22. These accomplished young professionals shared stories of growth, perseverance, and the lasting power of the NDA sisterhood.

On Saturday, December 7th, Notre Dame Academy’s Fine Arts Night brought our community together for an unforgettable celebration of art, dance, film, and theatre. The Visual and Performing Arts Department collaborated to showcase the incredible work of our students, connecting it all to the school-wide Exploratory Approach theme of the "Power Within."

Our NDA thespians crushed it at the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) Fall Festival on October 25! Competing against 50 schools, our students represented in 9 categories—and came home with 9 awards!

On Friday, March 28th, Notre Dame Academy attended the 14th annual Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California, hosted by Mount St. Mary's University. Our young women kicked off the day with a networking breakfast, where they met influential women from across Los Angeles and beyond who are committed to advancing gender equity.

We are thrilled to share that our NASA SLI team has overcome the first, and arguably most stressful, challenge of the Student Launch Initiative! On Thursday, November 21, the team presented and defended their rocket design to a panel of experts from NASA and the National Association of Rocketry—and they passed with flying colors!

We’re still glowing from a truly unforgettable evening! On Saturday, April 12, we celebrated Notre Dame Academy’s 75th anniversary at our Making a Difference Gala—and thanks to the incredible support of our community, it was a record-breaking night.

On Thursday, March 27th, our Regals got Lost in LA, diving into the city's rich cultural, artistic, and historical experiences. From innovation labs to historic landmarks, coastal communities to independent bookstores, thrift shops to architectural wonders, LA truly is our campus—expanding minds, fostering curiosity, and shaping future leaders.

As part of onboarding our new middle school students, we introduced them to NDA’s signature experiential learning while laying the groundwork for their upcoming innovation classes.

On Thursday, November 14, Bonnie Abaunza ‘82 graciously invited NDA alumnae, faculty, and students to the worldwide premiere of Apple Original Films’ Bread & Roses at the Hammer Museum.

Notre Dame Academy hosted its first symposium of the year under this year’s theme of Reality with a thought-provoking presentation by Lt. Commander Carie Boothe, U.S. Navy. Speaking to NDA students, she invited them to reflect on the reality of happiness, a theme that resonates deeply with young people navigating their own paths.

Notre Dame Academy was honored to welcome Monique Marshall, DEI specialist and consultant, for an inspiring conversation on the impact of diversity of thought.

On January 15, Notre Dame Academy's Exploratory Approach Community Time focused on the essential topics of health and wellness. Students engaged in a dynamic panel discussion featuring NDA parent of alumnae Meg Moreta, a registered dietitian specializing in diabetes management and prevention, and former chemistry teacher David Christman, NDA's STEM coordinator and green space advocate. Together, they explored how daily habits, mindful eating, and sustainable food choices contribute to a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

On Monday, May 19, 2025, Notre Dame Academy hosted its first-ever Power Summit—a transformative, TEDx-style event designed to celebrate the culmination of our Exploratory Approach, the Power Within Symposium Speaker Series, and this year’s Essential Question: How does understanding the power within ____ empower us? 

The day began with a powerful keynote address by Dr. Ann McElaney-Johnson, President of Mount St. Mary’s University, who inspired students to recognize and activate their inner power through education, leadership, and service.

As part of Notre Dame Academy’s Symposium Series, our students heard from Erika Cuéllar, co-founder of ALMA Backyard Farms, an organization that transforms unused land across Los Angeles into thriving community farms on Wednesday, October 22. Through ALMA’s work, formerly incarcerated individuals, local families, and volunteers come together to grow healthy food, restore neighborhoods, and rebuild lives.
