A Championship Season for NDA Soccer

2025 Exploratory Approach Launch: “Reality” Theme Inspires NDA Community

We launched this year’s Exploratory Approach with an all-school viewing of Roadmap to Reality: The Carlo Acutis Story. Carlo’s inspiring life and witness set the stage for our 2025–2026 theme: Reality—what it is, why it matters, and how we can live it with courage and joy.

After the film, we connected via Zoom with Christian Surtz, Emmy-winning filmmaker and Creative Director at Castletown Media, who co-directed the documentary. Christian shared behind-the-scenes insights and inspired our students with his reflections on truth, technology, and living with purpose.

Alumnae Inspire Future Women in Business at NDA

During Community Time on Monday November 10, hosted by the Women in Business Club, NDA proudly welcomed back three outstanding alumnae: Esabella Rojas ’18, Jocelyn Xoletl ’20, and Hana Doss-Wassily ’22. These accomplished young professionals shared stories of growth, perseverance, and the lasting power of the NDA sisterhood.

We are thrilled to share that our NASA SLI team has overcome the first, and arguably most stressful, challenge of the Student Launch Initiative! On Thursday, November 21, the team presented and defended their rocket design to a panel of experts from NASA and the National Association of Rocketry—and they passed with flying colors!

Symposium Series: Exploring the Reality of Happiness

Notre Dame Academy hosted its first symposium of the year under this year’s theme of Reality with a thought-provoking presentation by Lt. Commander Carie Boothe, U.S. Navy. Speaking to NDA students, she invited them to reflect on the reality of happiness, a theme that resonates deeply with young people navigating their own paths.

The Power Within Health and Wellness

On January 15, Notre Dame Academy's Exploratory Approach Community Time focused on the essential topics of health and wellness. Students engaged in a dynamic panel discussion featuring NDA parent of alumnae Meg Moreta, a registered dietitian specializing in diabetes management and prevention, and former chemistry teacher David Christman, NDA's STEM coordinator and green space advocate. Together, they explored how daily habits, mindful eating, and sustainable food choices contribute to a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The Power Within – NDA’s First-Ever Power Summit

On Monday, May 19, 2025, Notre Dame Academy hosted its first-ever Power Summit—a transformative, TEDx-style event designed to celebrate the culmination of our Exploratory Approach, the Power Within Symposium Speaker Series, and this year’s Essential Question: How does understanding the power within ____ empower us? 

The day began with a powerful keynote address by Dr. Ann McElaney-Johnson, President of Mount St. Mary’s University, who inspired students to recognize and activate their inner power through education, leadership, and service.

The Reality of Urban Farming

As part of Notre Dame Academy’s Symposium Series, our students heard from Erika Cuéllar, co-founder of ALMA Backyard Farms, an organization that transforms unused land across Los Angeles into thriving community farms on Wednesday, October 22. Through ALMA’s work, formerly incarcerated individuals, local families, and volunteers come together to grow healthy food, restore neighborhoods, and rebuild lives.
